RADIO STATION

In January 2000 the FCC established a new class of radio stations called Low Power Fm. The stations were only open for non-profit organizations to apply. Vic Scoggin bought the land, did all the engineering, bought the equipment, and was approved March 22, 2005. The stations frequency is 97.3, channel 247, and the call leters are WENV. He remembers trying to figure what what call letters to use. The person applying had to pick through what was left after 92 years of call signs. There wasn't much left. After weeks of picking through call letters and filling in the blanks with ones that he thought of, he finally decided on WENV. "W" which all stations have to use west of the Mississippi... ENV for the environment. It was meant to be. Hopefully we can get streaming audio up and going on the internet soon.
